March is National Women's History Month and with oodles of awe inspiring, fabulously fascinating, wildly passionate, and extraordinary women in history. Which woman or women in history inspire you?
I have to go with fashionista and entrepreneur extraordinaire, Nelly Don. Ever heard of her? I had not. That is, until viewing Nelly Don: A Stitch In time
Nelly Don single handedly changed women's fashion forever when she overruled the dowdy frock with stylish and detailed dresses. Not to mention her personal life was anything but a snooze fest, an affair with a senator, not to be topped by being kidnapped and subsequently rescued by the mafia.
Not only am I inspired by her talent and ingenuity, but also moved by the care she expressed for her employees. She was the definition of the benevolent CEO, she soared to great successes while keeping her worker bees happy. Wikipedia's blurb states that "Nelly Don manufactured 75 million dresses from 1916 to 1978 making it the largest dress manufacturer of the 20th century. They were one of the first companies to apply assembly line techniques to clothing manufacturing. It was reported that she only had to dismiss one employee in the entire history of the company." That is one incredible woman!
As if you could not tell already, I highly recommend checking out Nelly Don: A Stitch In time
Toodles.
