AN ODE TO MY MATTY

Never one to shy away from my lot to live a life submerged in an abundance of strong women, I love my girls.  Never do I have trouble voicing my adoration for the hubs, but today there is another man in my life whom I simply must dote on.

My Matty, well I have to share him with what seems to be half the world, but nonetheless, in my eyes he will always be my Matty.

Matt and I have been besties since the first day we met, over fourteen years ago.  We lived across the street from eachother and our moms introduced us in that awkward "Kristin will be attending your school in the fall, you two should get to know eachother" type of way.  It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship indeed.

We have been through everything together and have stood side by side through thick and thin.  From bad relationships, bad ideas, bad fashion, bad hair (okay that was probably just me)  to great loves, great travels, great accomplishments, great ideas, and great hair (okay that was probably just Matt).  We have been oceans apart at times, but our friendship has never faltered.  Matty and I share a special bond that can only be garnered from simply growing up together, and grown up we have.

Through it all, I must admit, Matt is the friend (everyone has one) that always has it soooo together I feel honored just to be allowed into the sphere of his awesome presence.  That may sound a bit grand, but Matt has more presence in his little finger than most people will eke out in a lifetime.

If you have yet to gather, Matt is clearly fabulous, but also handsome, kind, lovely, well traveled, well spoken, and well dressed making his irreverant sense of humor (very much akin to my fave author David Sedaris) all the more delightful and hilarious.

Having called Manhattan home for over four years now, Matt has been my number one go to on life in the big city.  He never fails to administer the most useful advice and always puts a smile on my face by pointing out those simple facts like we both take a train to work.  Standing on the platform is our equivalent to being under the same moon!  For a spell, life seemed to be whisking us into very different worlds, but life, in its infinite wisdom seems to have put us back onto eerily similar tracks.

My Matty has met every goal he has set his sights on and I am so proud of him for landing his dream job in NYC (even sweeter since we now both live in a city, are both in love, and both have our dream jobs).  We have come a long way from carpooling to school, walking to the race track, building snowmen, sneaking cigs, and forming our own definition of what it meant to be 'cool'.  I would not trade one memory or want to miss out on a single future moment!

Cheersies to you Matty!  I cannot think of anyone more deserving of being wildly successful.
Thank you for being you and for sharing that with me!

Toodles from one lucky Smalltownista.
